Foods are the sources of nutrients. What we eat every day directly affects our health and longevity. In oriental medicine, “diet” is considered as one of the most crucial healing methods. Foods are regarded as an extension of herbal medicine. Chinese Medicine has developed an extensive theory how to use foods to improve our health. The highlight of it is the “energetics of foods”.
Food Energetics means that our nourishment derives from the inherent energy of the food, “Qi”. The energy of food varies and changes depending on the kind, origin, growing and cooking method, and more. With this knowledge, we can make better and conscious choices about the foods for not only promoting healthy living but also alleviating illnesses.
This workshop also discuss about the Japanese traditional dietary style, which is introduced and known to the West as “Macrobiotics” by George Ohsawa and Michio Kushi. Macrobiotics is considered as healing and longevity foods, which teaches us a unique perspective to and relationship with foods.
