Spiritual Testing (January 28, 2008)
My then spiritual master used to talk about spiritual testing often. What is really spiritual testing?
Spiritual testing is the challenge that you are confronted as you proceed on spiritual journey. The challenge is often related to the issue that you are concurrently working on. It could be an issue relating to healing, relationship, career, money or anything else. When you are challenged, you would usually recognize right away that it is a testing. If you try to avoid resolving the issue, you may successfully get away of it for a moment. But the Truth is that it will definitely come back. Then, you know, “here we go again”…
So, who is really testing? This was the question that I have asked the Universe for a long time for clarification. The answer is the “Self”. The Universe or God will never test you, as they are the creator and observer who watch over and support our progress. So, who is really testing is nothing but your Self for the sole purpose of your own learning.
So, why do you test yourself? The primary reason is to test your patience for and commitment to continuing spiritual journey. Being on spiritual journey is NOT challenge free, but it will help you understand about how life operates. It will also help you overcome challenges more effectively and efficiently. Spiritual testing will point out your weakness and make you aware that the issue is not resolved.
If you are tested, there is no need to panic. You simply need to accept that the issue is not yet resolved. Then, you need to understand the root cause. The testing does not happen accidentally. It is the inner wake-up call by your own Soul.
Spiritual testing is the process that every Soul must go through while being on a spiritual path. There is no need to run away or be scared. Commitment, a clear goal and intention will guide you through to overcome the challenges… Then, when you pass your own testing, you would know… Then, the old chapter is closed, opening up to the next…
